New Managing Director appointed at DAF Trucks UK & Ireland
DAF Trucks UK & Ireland has announced a senior leadership change with the appointment of Nigel Beckett as its new Managing Director. The move marks a key transition in the company’s UK operations as it continues to strengthen its position in a rapidly evolving commercial vehicle market.
Beckett takes over responsibility for DAF’s UK and Ireland business at a time when the manufacturer remains the dominant player in the UK heavy truck sector. He succeeds David Kiss, who moves into a wider European sales leadership role within the organisation.
The appointment reflects DAF’s continued focus on internal talent development, with Beckett bringing extensive experience from more than two decades within the company. Having joined DAF in 2005, he has held a range of senior roles across service, engineering, parts, and sales functions. Most recently, he served as Director of Service and Engineering for the UK and Ireland, where he played a central role in supporting dealer operations and aftersales performance.
DAF’s leadership change comes during a period of sustained market strength in the UK. The brand has maintained its position as the country’s leading truck manufacturer for over three decades, supported by a strong dealer network and consistent demand across both fleet and regional operators. Recent industry data shows the company continues to hold the largest share of the UK truck market above six tonnes gross vehicle weight, even as the wider sector faces fluctuating demand and ongoing economic pressure.
In his new role, Beckett is expected to focus on supporting customers through the industry’s ongoing transition towards zero-emission transport, while maintaining the core strengths of uptime, service support, and product reliability that have long underpinned DAF’s UK success.
The company’s leadership reshuffle also includes wider changes across its sales and marketing structure, reflecting a broader strategy to align UK operations more closely with evolving European market conditions. This includes a renewed emphasis on electrification, dealer investment, and service network expansion.
Industry observers note that DAF’s continued internal promotion strategy highlights stability within the organisation at a time when the truck sector is undergoing significant technological change. With increasing pressure around emissions regulations, infrastructure readiness, and fleet transition planning, manufacturers are under growing pressure to deliver both operational continuity and long-term innovation.
DAF Trucks’ UK leadership remains closely tied to its wider European strategy, with senior executives in the UK working in coordination with the company’s headquarters in Eindhoven. The latest appointment reinforces that structure while maintaining a strong UK-focused operational presence.
As the industry moves deeper into electrification and digital fleet management, the new Managing Director will be tasked with balancing short-term customer demands with long-term strategic investment, ensuring DAF retains its leading position in the UK commercial vehicle market.
