Driver CPC changes: overview of responses and government response

The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC) was introduced in 2007, from the European Union Directive 2003/59/EC.  This was transposed into domestic legislation by The Vehicle Drivers (Certificates of Professional Competence) Regulations 2007 (as amended), with DCPC coming in force from 2008 for passenger transport and 2009 for goods transport

Scania is conducting trials of a solar-powered truck on public roadways

Based in Södertälje, Sweden, this initiative is a two-year collaborative research effort between Scania, Uppsala University, Eksjö Maskin & Truck, Midsummer, Ernsts Express, and Dalakraft. The groundbreaking project involves a 560hp plug-in hybrid truck coupled with an 18m trailer equipped with state-of-the-art lightweight tandem solar panels. Haulage company Ernsts Express AB will put the truck through its paces on public roads.

Parcel Delivery Powered By First Hydrogen

First Hydrogen, a leading developer of zero emission automotive and green energy solutions, is gearing up to launch fleet trials of its hydrogen-fuel-cell-powered vehicles (FCEVs) in response to increasing interest from parcel delivery companies. Building on the success of initial road trials with fleet operators in the UK, First Hydrogen plans to conduct operational trials with several parcel delivery companies starting in late Q3 and Q4 of this year.
