Maritime Transport Named Road Freight Company of the Year at Multimodal Awards 2025

Maritime Transport Named Road Freight Company of the Year at Multimodal Awards 2025
Maritime Transport, the UK’s leading provider of integrated road and rail freight logistics, has been named Road Freight Company of the Year at this year’s Multimodal Awards, held at the NEC in Birmingham on 17th June.
The three-day Multimodal exhibition brought together over 300 exhibitors and thousands of professionals from across the supply chain, with a packed schedule of conference sessions, networking opportunities, and industry showcases.
This year, Maritime’s award-winning stand is showcasing a Volvo FH Electric ahead of preparations to deploy more than 50 battery electric trucks across the Maritime network from September. Backed by high-powered charging infrastructure being installed at 13 Maritime sites, this national rollout will integrate electric trucks into day-to-day operations, delivering zero-emission logistics for first and final mile transport under real-world conditions.
The Multimodal Awards, hosted by Martin Bayfield, recognise excellence across the logistics sector. Winners are determined through votes cast by readers of the Multimodal Newsletter, as well as exhibitors and visitors at the event. This year’s award marks Maritime’s seventh win in the Road category since its introduction in 2016.
Maritime also sponsored the Personality of the Year award, which was presented to Cameron Bowie, Managing Director – UK/Ireland, Hapag-Lloyd AG.
John Bailey, Managing Director – Intermodal, Maritime Transport, said:
‘Multimodal provides a fantastic platform for us to connect with businesses and customers across the supply chain and we’re pleased to be attending again this year. The UK road sector presents some of the toughest obstacles to long-term decarbonisation and this award reflects the progress we’ve made in addressing these challenges, together with our customers and the support of our exceptional teams. The introduction of our BEVs later this year, combined with one of the UK’s largest privately-operated HGV charging networks, will build on this progress, working alongside our rail operations to provide a cohesive, low-carbon logistics offering from end to end.’
