Renault Trucks Drives Forward With Used Parts Factory 

Renault trucks has today announced plans to construct a new used parts factory in Lyon. With plans to create the site devoted to recycling and refurbishing truck and associated parts.

The 3000m2 industrial facility located in Vénissieux will be built close to the other logistics complexes in order to bring efficiencies to the supply-chain. And will handle used vehicles with high mileages.

The End-of-life Renault Trucks will enter the Used Parts Factory to be dismantled. Factory workers will remove the parts previously classified as suitable for reuse (engine, gearbox, cabin, fuel tank, bumpers, deflectors, etc.). Once the parts proposed for reuse have been removed, the other components will be recycled. The metal extracted from the parts will be used to manufacture new vehicles.

Newly recycled parts will be covered by manufacturer’s warranty, will be 50 – 60% cheaper than new parts and available across the global dealer network.

The plan further highlights Renault Trucks commitment to sustainability as well as finding a solution for part shortages. The overall goal is the drive towards creating a circular economy. An economic model designed to minimise resource input as well as waste and emissions output. Ultimately it is a solution framework that tackles global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution.

With the new facility, Renault Trucks will continue to drive forward its carbon neutrality ambitions.
