Scania Releases Financials For Q1 2022
Swedish truck and bus manufacturer Scania has released it preliminary financial report
Swedish truck and bus manufacturer Scania has released it preliminary financial report covering the first 3 months of the year. The results have been characterized by volatility in global markets exemplified by global economic factors. Demand, however has remained strong for the manufacturer, and it has a positive view of the remaining year.
- Net sales decreased by 3%
- Operating income decreased by 44%
- Operating margin was 7.5%
Scania, along with most other motor manufacturers have been restrictive in placing orders due to on-going supply chain disruption. The global shortage of semiconductors has been a key bottleneck, although it was reported this began to ease in towards the end of the quarter. The conflict in Ukraine has also de-stabalised the flow of raw materials. Furthermore, the global de-stabalisation has increased raw material and import costs prices.
The outlook for Scania remains buoyant although the focus for the next stage of the business is the move towards electrifying vehicles.
