National Highways Upgrades Wakefield Control Room with UVS and Electrosonic
National Highways has given its Wakefield Regional Operations Centre (ROC) a major technology refresh, improving how operators monitor and manage England’s busiest roads.
The upgrade, delivered by Ultimate Visual Solutions (UVS) in partnership with Electrosonic, includes new high-resolution video walls and advanced control systems. The improvements give traffic teams a clearer, more flexible view of live feeds, helping them spot incidents faster and respond more efficiently.
The centre now features three large LCD video walls and a dedicated display in the coordination room, all running on UVS’s Lucidity platform. Custom software integration ensures the system works seamlessly with National Highways’ operational tools, replacing older screens with a more modern, reliable setup.
For staff on the ground, the changes mean quicker recognition of traffic issues, real-time alerts, and smoother incident management, helping keep journeys safer and reduce congestion.
This upgrade shows how smart technology is becoming central to running the UK’s strategic road network.
