Fleete Launches UK’s Largest HGV Charging Hub at Tilbury

Fleete has officially opened the UK’s largest electric HGV charging hub at the Port of Tilbury, a move that could reshape the way freight operators approach zero-emission transport.

The 5 MW facility features 16 ultra-rapid chargers, enough to charge multiple electric trucks at once, and is designed as a shared‑use hub for fleets that don’t have on-site charging. Positioned on one of the country’s busiest freight corridors into London, it offers a practical solution for operators looking to electrify without major depot upgrades.

The launch was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Sue Shinnick, Mayor of Thurrock. It was backed by government programmes including the Thames Freeport Seed Capital Programme and the Zero Emission HGV and Infrastructure Demonstrator (ZEHID) Programme.

Chris Morrison, Fleete’s CEO, said the hub proves that “shared, high‑capacity charging can remove one of the biggest barriers to fleet electrification.” With the UK pushing for greener logistics and working towards Net Zero goals, the Tilbury hub offers a timely boost for fleets looking to cut emissions while keeping goods moving efficiently.
