DAF Trucks Initiates The DAF EV Relay
DAF Trucks has launched the DAF EV Relay, featuring two electric DAF LF 4×2 rigids touring the company’s 34 truck sales centres across the UK and Ireland. This initiative aims to educate and familiarise staff with electric vehicles (EVs). The journey, starting from two different locations in England, involves each dealer driving an LF Electric to their location and conducting hands-on training for their team. These trucks, adorned with special graphics, emphasise their range, environmental benefits, and cost savings, showcasing insights from the 18-month Battery Electric Truck Trial (BETT).
The BETT project, which aims to boost the adoption of battery electric vehicles, will soon release its final report. It has been highlighting real-world operational data on a dedicated website (bett-cenex.co.uk).
In parallel, DAF is committed to transforming all its Truck Sales Centres into DAF Electric Truck Centres. This transformation includes specialised training, tooling, and facilities for servicing electric trucks, along with on-site charging stations. Each center will feature an Electric Demonstrator for customer trials, and trained Electric Truck Sales Specialists will assist operators in transitioning to zero-emission transport.
DAF’s efforts also extend to training its team in the use of PACCAR Chargers, complementing the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) accreditation with DAF-specific training.
Additionally, DAF Trucks is using the tour to support Family Action’s Christmas Toy Appeal, collecting toy donations at each dealer visit. More information about the toy appeal can be found at Family Action’s website.
